School daze
For those interested (few I'm sure) an update on my summer semester:
I'm taking two classes: Intellectual Property and Crucial Issues in Landscape Creation and Preservation. The first is a fairly straightforward overview of intellectual property law, which I've been rather interested in ever since I started reading fanfiction. ::grin::
The Professor is the head of Harvard's Publishing Division, so he definitely knows his stuff and is a very engaging lecturer. I've been promised coverage of file-sharing and web page content issues which, if nothing else, will actually make me go to class. So that's a good.
The second is Visual and Environmental Studies class (Art, for people unfamiliar with Harvard's annoying habit of calling everything by a different name.) A bit of an unknown quantity, since so far it mostly consists of the Professor flashing about a thousand slides while rambling about everything from visiting the boonies in Tennessee to Coca-Cola commercials. He is, however, a funny and eccentric little man with many bones to pick with the administration of the university and, therefore, already one of my favorite people. ::smirk::
We're supposed to get into gender issues as informed by popular culture, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an opportunity to write a paper about SDBs for class. Which would, naturally, rock.
So far, I'm enjoying everything far more than I thought I would. Aside from the inevitable overeager jerk-offs who feel the need to interrupt lectures just to make sure the Professors remember their faces... but hopefully they'll settle down when they realize the Professor doesn't actually grade them. LOL
