Happy Halloween, everyone!

I wasn't planning to do much this year, but The Dresden Dolls are playing, so I'll be going to the show and then heading over to Ceremony to buff up my goth street cred. LOL

I'm staring at my closet in dismay, though. I swear I used to have all kinds of fluttery, ripped and shredded black clothes in there. There were skirts at one point. I am sure of that much. I have no clue where they all went. Oh well, the simplicity of black-on-black will have to suffice.

I'm not even attempting NaNoWriMo, so much admiration to those of you who are, and best of luck. I am working on something (of the Firefly persuasion as I am totally obsessed), and I'll be trying to get as much as possible done this month, but the whole word count thing has a tendency to make me freeze up.

Still grooving on my latest batch of bpal, in which there was not a single thing I did not like. Woohoo! Reviews are under the cut.

First the freebies:

Tempest A crisp ozone-tinged breeze. The scent of the first gentle rain before the storm.
This is very, very yummy. It goes on like the sweetest of pink grapefruits, but when it dries down it turns wet and slightly salty. Definitely has that scent of rain as it is carried in the wind, right before it starts coming down hard.

Saturnalia Unrestrained revelry, unchained licentiousness! Violet deepened with vetiver.
This was a surprise. It does smell very much like violets, but not flowery. More like candied violets. Actually, it smells exactly like these Violet mints/candies/pastilles, that I loved when I was a kid. Of course, my mom used to tell me that those tasted like perfume, so... Heh. Very sweet, but not cloying. Sharp and sugary at the same time.

Thanatopsis A meditation upon death. Inspired by William Cullen Bryant's poem. A deep, solemn earthen scent containing pine, juniper and musk.
I can see how the poem inspired this. It goes on very piney, which gave me a moment of Argh!, but it mellowed right away. Smells like a forest, like bark and sap and dried leaves. Not a favorite, but very nice.

I'll blather about the rest soon. Now I go in search of party clothes that won't be binding. *g*

What is it a screencap from? I've never seen it before, so your icon is unique to me. :)

Also, speaking of your icons, I've been watching Buffy for the first time, and I got to the episode with your Faith icon (you know, with the heart in the window) and I was so excited! I was like, "Hey! That's grissecon's icon!" Yes. I'm a dork.

The screencap is from the first episode of Firefly. Which I now want to pimp to you like Whoa... but you're doing Buffy and that comes first. Are you loving it? You're loving it, right?

Also, I just got a "I'm associated with Faith's tru wuv for Buffy" thrill, so I guess we can be dorks together. *g*
