Not that she is surprised. Seems to be the theme for the night. But at least Richard Wilkins the Third, Mayor of Sunnydale, has never called himself her friend.

"He’s dust."
"I thought he might be, what with you standing here and all."
They think they can treat her like one of the things she hunts and kills. They think… she’ll show them. She’s a Slayer. She’s the predator, not the prey.

"I guess that means you have a job opening."
They want a monster; she'll give them one.
