Yeah, baby!
I really wish I had anything even remotely coherent to say about the show but, I don't. My head is mostly going: "Wow. Awesome. Gee." Which should be indicative of how good this was. I can't say that being at a loss for words is a common occurrence for me.
I am surprised, though, that the man himself (while having the most commanding stage presence I've ever witnessed) wasn't what truly blew my mind. His band was just so incredible. I don't think I've ever heard the blues sound quite so good. My head was bobbing along with every riff, my feet where tapping without my consent, and, if my knee did twinge a little, I couldn't really pay any attention to the pain just because I was hearing music like I'd never heard a single freaking sound before in my entire life!
So, yeah. Incoherent. But it was so very good.
In the wake of all this I also desperately want to go listen to some really good jazz, so if anyone is interested in hitting a club (Riley's or Wally's most likely) next week, let me know!
