Been a while since there was out and out JOY going on in my life but this day has rocked like a rocking thing, so here's the why for posterity (also, because I am one the geeks that periodically reads her past LJ entries in order to wince, sigh, and laugh):

- Sold some more stuff; got some more cash; paid some more bills. Here's the happy part: Still in possession of all my Buffy, Angel, and QAF DVD's. I so rule at this poverty thing.

- Aside from covering the essentials (electricity, cable/internet, phone, smokes) I had some bucks left over for the world's cheapest and most evil malt liquor. All hail the glory of Steel Reserve! 40 ounces of ghetto-goodness for under two bucks. *g*

- That manga thing I've been doing recently? It's having a great day. About 200 pages of new stuff to d/l, share, and "ooh!" and "aah!" over. Very much enjoying my new hobby.

- People are going off to CFTC. I'm not going. That's all good because, in spite of the occasional in-fighting, popslash is one of the best fandoms I've ever been a part of. There are so many wonderful people who share all they can just so we can keep up with the boys. I have missed a ton of stuff (coming in, as I did, so late in the game) but I've never gone for more than a day without finding some generous soul that was willing to hook me up with whatever appearance or performance or picture or description from the back row *g*, I was jonesing for. Just in case I haven't mentioned it yet, allow me to say that I'm so happy that I put aside all those goth brownie points in my teens so I could join in the crazy sparkly love. (Said brownie points were earned by contracting scarlet fever, btw, which I and my doctors still have no idea how I managed.)

So there it is, four excellent reasons why today is a good day. I'm going to go read some yaoi now, just to keep the ball rolling.

Dude. I've never known anyone who had scarlet fever before. I won't say "cool" because I'm sure it wasn't, but dude.

I'm liking poverty because it's a good excuse to eat crappy food that I could never justify eating otherwise and/or food that I secretly crave but I claim to be freaked out by. Like Ramen!

Psst. Did you know there are nekkid boys in your LJ? squee.

The scarlet fever was sooo bizarre. I thought I had the flu, except my palms and my back were ummm, sweating blood.

So... I go to the doctor and he tells me that I have scarlet fever. And that he'd like to arrange for the interns studying under him to come take a look at me, because they've only read about this in textbooks! The whole thing was so strange, and the only thing we could come up for how I got it, was that I was eating a lot of Ethiopian food at the time and one of the cooks might've been carrying it. LOL

As for the nekkid boys... aren't they pretty? Those are my manga boys. I'm so tempted to draw Nsync manga-style, it's painful. *g*
