Fannishness: I'm having a
embitca and
velena -inspired resurgence of X-Files love.
(Fun fact: I pronounce that Ics-Files in my head because of my Italian teacher, who was one of the few people I talked to about the show way back in my junior year. I so wish I had a taped conversation. Government conspiracies, mutants, and extraterrestrials aren't included in the first year Italian curriculum, so the conversations were generally in a weird mish-mash of Italian and English with the occasional Spanish throw in, since sometimes I think I know how to say something in Italian when I really, really don't. *g*)
So I've been reading a lot of MSR, which is slightly odd, since I'm usually all about the slash. I have my people in the slash, you know. Go-to writers who are multi-fannish, whom I know I can hit up for at the very least a rec or two. Het is like another world to me. I don't recognize any of the names, have no idea where to start, and well... there's a lot "" of X-Files fic out there. On the plus side, I feel like I have a brand new fandom. Except I already know everything that happened on the show. It's interesting.
Life: I went out last night. Cabin fever, full-moon madness, and shots make for a fun time. Now I've got to face the music on several fronts. Since it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford school in the Fall, getting a job is now imperative. (Not that it wasn't before, it's just that before I thought that if I couldn't get work, I might at least be able to study.) Life sucks. That's all.
Back to scouring through the job listings. Wish me monsters. (What? That'd at least keep me from getting bored! *g*)

She has a lovely subtle touch with Scully.

Thanks for pointing the X-Files stuff. She has such a lovely way with Jean (who is generally so maligned by fandom), I can't wait to read what she did with Scully.
I was too busy drooling over the Mulder/Krychek angst/violence/heat the first time around to go looking for gen or het fic, so this whole thing is like a present-from-fandoms-past for me.
Speaking of which, did you check out the last vid rec on
