I have never in my life gone anywhere near a retail outlet the day after Thanksgiving. I have this thing about crowds of people that don't move quickly and with a minimum of fuss toward their goal, you see, so I've always thought that holiday shopping was something I should avoid for the sake of my mental health and other people's limbs.

Then I got this job.

Jesus Christ-on-a-crutch!!! (Actually, he probably could have moved faster and more efficiently than this lot.)

All things considered, it wasn't too horrible. There were one or two people (per hour) that made me think longingly of the box cutters in the stock room, but mostly I just kept my head down and kept on ringing stuff until the crowd dissapeared.

Also: my co-workers are funny as hell, and they were all in particularly fine form today; a fight or two broke out in the line, so there was no lack of entertainment; and I will never again walk through Chinatown without recognizing a single person there.

Now, I just have to make it through the same thing tomorrow...
