...just because I'm re-reading (for the 17th hundred time) 'The Hitchhiker's Guide' books. I worship this series. I read them once or twice a year, and yet, every single time I feel like I have completely forgotten that blend of humor and despair that first hooked me.
In that spirit, reccing a few other things that hit that particular spot:
'Good Omens' by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett - I don't personally know anyone who hasn't read this since I tend to recite parts of it to my RL friends until they cave and borrow the book, but if you haven't read it, you should.
'Lamb', 'Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story', or 'Practical Demonkeeping' by Christopher Moore - His sense of humor is very close to Douglas Adams'; just a wonderful sense of the ridiculous in human nature. I would recommend most of his books, but these three are my favorites.
'Brand New Cherry Flavor' by Todd Grimson - Definitely darker than the above, but still, a modern day fantasy infused with sly, dark humor.
Now I need some book recs for myself. Damn, I miss The 11th Hour .
